Monaco is one of the more opulent and romantic of study abroad locations. For this reason you will find few scholarships sponsored by the government, such as the Gilman and Boren Scholarships. Monaco has been a premier European holiday escape for generations. The small country occupies a stunning strand of coastline between Italy and France often called the French Riviera.
The principality is renowned for its International University of Monaco, which specializes in training next gen international business leaders. While Monaco is hardly a metropolitan business hub, it is one of the leading destinations for students seeking high-end European business sense in an environment known for its ability to entertain world leaders and elite Europeans from all walks of life.
Scholarship Programs
Archaeology students often head off to digs in the Mediterranean, cradle of Greek and Roman civilizations. The Archaeological Institute of America provides generous fellowships for qualified students wishing to study their field of specialty in Monaco. The Harriet and Leon Pomerance Fellowship is awarded to graduate or post-graduate archaeology students whose concentration is the Aegean Bronze Age. Candidates are chosen on the merit of their proposed project. $4,000 in scholarship money available.
The University of Miami partners with the International University of Monaco to provide a unique international study experience for Business majors, particularly those concentrating in international business. The Luis Glaser Scholarships may give eligible students auxiliary travel stipends that may help offset the cost of airfare or other associated expenses in tripping off to Monaco. Candidates must have strong academic records as well as a financial need for the funding. Summer and semester awards are available. Scholarships are typically no more than $2,000.
MBA alumni of the Savannah College of Art and Design may be eligible for the Monaco Scholarships offered by the International University of Monaco. U of Monaco is one of the premier business programs and for this reason students from international hinterlands vie for consideration in the intensive program. The Monaco Scholarships lop off a sizeable chunk of tuition cost for SCAD alumni whose academics are up to the challenge.
Michigan State University offers the Human Impacts on the Mediterranean Basin program that provides Biology and Agriculture students with a unique marine experience. The curriculum allows participants to observe and conduct research related to the environment of the Mediterranean coastline, including Monaco. Students may apply for the following scholarships:
- College of Agriculture and Natural Resources scholarships are available on an as-needed basis and students must contact the office directly for current awards.
- MSU Federal Credit Union Scholarships are one of the largest contributors to student financial funding for international programs. Awards may be as much as $1,500 for the Mediterranean program. Applicants must possess adequate academic records and be able to prove a financial necessity for the funds.
- Kellogg Foundation Scholarships are specifically designed for students in the Agriculture and Natural Resources program.
Besides the above scholarships the International University of Monaco occasionally provides partial scholarships, even though no set-in-stone criteria exists. Students interested in the business program should contact the IUM directly and request information on current scholarship opportunities.
