Fund Your Science Degree

The Oncology Nursing Society Foundation awards scholarships to those pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in nursing who are committed to Oncology nursing. One-time awards are for $2,000. Current registered nurses are eligible as well as those who are not licensed RN’s. Non-RN licensed applicants and current RN licensed applicants are scored separately.

The Foundation also offers Master’s and Doctoral scholarships for those nurses committed to Oncology nursing.

Graduate Scholarships

American Cancer Society

Master’s Degree Scholarships in Cancer Nursing

This is an annual award of $10,000 with the possibility of the student receiving the award for two years. Applicants must be United States citizens (with few exceptions) and must be pursuing a Master’s degree in cancer nursing, be currently licensed as an RN and not have earned a Master’s degree in nursing. Selection criteria include experience in cancer nursing, volunteer work with the American Cancer Society as well as other volunteer organizations, and a commitment to cancer nursing.

In addition, the American Cancer Society offers Doctoral degree scholarships in cancer nursing in the amount of $15,000 annually with the possibility of renewal for a second year. There are also oncology grants available.

Zhou Sisters Great Expectations Scholarship

This is an award for an outstanding student enrolled in the Microbiology and Immunology program. One-time award is for $1,000.

Katherina Siebert Award for Excellence in Oncologic Research

This award is for original research in oncology; the amount of the award is $500 and a plaque will also be presented.

Shirley Patricia Parker Scholarship

This award is also for oncology research however it is based on financial need. The amount of the award is $1,000 and will be awarded to a student who is conducting oncologic research.

The Siemens Oncology Scholarship Program

These scholarships are made possible through a partnership between the Nevada Cancer Institute (NCI) and the Siemens Foundation and will provide scholarships to Nevada’s nursing students. Three of the four scholarships are set aside for oncology nursing. Four $5,000 scholarships will be awarded annually. For more information about these scholarships, click on the following link. Students residing in states other than Nevada are encouraged to check with their respective state cancer institutes for oncology scholarship opportunities.

Purdue University School of Nursing

Esther McConnaughay Trust Graduate Oncology Nursing Scholarship

This award is up to $10,000 and will be awarded to one or more graduate nursing students of Purdue University School of Nursing who are pursuing a Master’s or Doctoral degree in oncology nursing. Selection criteria include a 3.0 GPA and applicant must be a currently licensed RN. Preference will be given to Indiana residents.
